Online Casino Kingpin Nabbed in Montenegro

Wang Shuiming, 42, allegedly the mastermind behind Asia’s largest illegal online casino network, was nabbed last week in Tivat, Montenegro. He touched down on a private jet from the Maldives and was promptly arrested by local police following an Interpol red notice from China.

Wang Shuiming previously copped a conviction in Singapore for running illegal online gambling operations and money laundering. After he pleaded guilty, authorities seized AUD 270 million in assets and handed him a 14-month prison sentence. He walked free in June 2024.

Now he’s facing more serious heat from Chinese authorities. Wang Shuiming and his associates are accused of laundering approximately AUD 3.3 billion generated by illegal online casinos targeting Chinese players.

While Wang Shuiming is a Chinese subject, he allegedly holds passports from Turkey, Cambodia, and Vanuatu. Local media reckon these three passports may be dodgy.
